This is a new chibi style I wanted to try out, I think he is downright adorable, however I wanted to practice cell shading and I still hate cell shading and am still bad at it D<
So I have another chibi to work with for airbrush shading and Immah see how that turns out
I call these chibis "Skinny pea" chibis because their legs and arms are like sticks but you can't really tell since the guys wearing a kimono!~
Hope you like it Kinomi Sempie~
This is Kinomi-Sempie on gaia online by the way, its gaian avi art haha~
If anyone wants to give me tips on my cell shade coloring and how to do it better be my guest, I have to learn how D:
I think it would help you if you chose one light source and shaded with just that in mind. Your shading is all over the place and that might explain some of your frustrations with shading whether cell shading or not. You seem to have the basic idea of cell shading down with the solid blocks of colour, but I think you are having trouble visualizing what needs to be in shadow, what casts a shadow and what doesn't cast a shadow at all. For example, the wings would be one, thin object, but you've shaded every purple piece so it gives this odd shingling effect.
I suggest some basic observational studies with a single light source. Just get a cylinder of some sort and wrap some fabric around it so there are folds and wrinkles then draw it and shade it while looking at it.
Well, using a cylinder was just an example. Anything you practise lighting with will add to your knowledge so when you shade an image you make up, you will remember what certain lighting does to shapes. The point I was trying to make, is you need to learn more about how objects look when lit from one source.

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Do you think I should use darker shading? Because I usually zoom in like 300% and I realized that the skin barely looks like it is shaded at all D:
Yeah but that is fabric folds, that is nice but what about everything else that needs to be shaded D:
Shading fail XD
